Adobe Photoshop CS6 beta is the free test version of the popular image editing program.

Adobe Photoshop is one of the most recent version of the premiere digital imaging program. With it the user can manipulate photos, color line art, create digital paintings and create graphic logos for anything from web sites to signs. Upon installing this beta version, you will be prompted to enter or create an Adobe log-in ID.

Photoshop CS6 Beta introduces a slew of new features and performance enhancements. CS6 has been embraced by professionals thanks to the updated Mercury graphics engine as well as the streamlined interface. This version is hailed for enhancing the features that people use the most.

The crop tool has been completely revamped. The tool is now non-destructive, and the cropped image can be rotated and zoomed. It has overlays and allows for the user to save presets. There is also a straighten tool that allows the user to draw a straight line on an image and the program will understand how it can be rotated.

Shadows and Highlights have also been upgraded. The values can now be raised quite high without ruining the image with halos. This works especially well with photos taken by a smartphone.

Lens Blur has been modified so it can achieve multiple new effects, allowing the user to adjust the blur line and to identify different focus points. This tool allows the user to easily create an illusion of depth without so much hassle.

The Content-Aware patch tool is one of the most talked-about features of CS6. It allows the user to basically cut a person, tree or house from a picture, and the program will paint in a realistic background as if the thing was never there. The tool also allows the user to move an object around, and it can adjust the background accordingly. It is an incredible time-saver.

CS6 has a new way of managing layers, allowing the user to sort the layers by type. Often, a complex file can contain over 100 layers. This feature will help keep them sorted, allowing the user to search and sort them by name, effect and color.

Auto Image Corrections are now part of the system. What this means is instead of grabbing an image and then adjusting the contrast, hue and saturation manually to make it pop, CS6 can do it for you. I regularly have to hit auto contrast and then mess with the saturation sliders. This is a real time saver.

Background Auto-Saving is a feature that saves your work automatically every few minutes. If your computer crashes in the middle of a project, you won't lose hours of work.

Pros:

Photoshop is extremely expensive. This is a fantastic way to get it for free.

This is one of the best versions of one of the best programs.

Cons:

This is a truly gigantic file.

It's the beta and not the final version.
